Re: Bugs - Another Broken Game
Are you sure they didn't just retreat, but you still happen to win before all your troops leave?

You kinda have to know the list of ways to get horror marks, and keep your god away from them. Mostly it's certain items. Enemy mages can cast horror mark but the ai rarely does.
The biggest reason to keep your god out of the arena it might get cursed or die. Or stuck with the reward.

Re: Bugs - Another Broken Game
Why would forces that win, reteat?
If they did reteat they would still be on the map, they are not, the armies and leaders disapeared!
I win the battle, still own the province and my forces disapear!!!!

Re: Bugs - Another Broken Game
Ranger, I already answered your question. Your province defense won that battle and it ended when the last unit from Caelum retreated out of the battlefield. Nothing is wrong here. You still own the province and you still got your 41 province defense in there. The two commanders on the battlefield are those that you get from a province defense value >= 20. Have you still not understood how province defense works? Then please read your manual.
P.S.: The loss from your province defense doesn't show up in your battle reports because the province defense gets restored up to full troop strength in the new month. Duh.

Wrong, that was two of my armies in Jerib, I was building a temple in that province with the priestess and had a army protecting her.
You bring up a good point though, how do you tell the difference between regular army units and province defence units?
How come the losses aren't reported in the message window?
Maybe be there needs to be a different message for province defence unit battles!

The regular army units show up on the strategic display. You can assign them to commanders, move them around, give them a tactical order script, and so on.
Provincial Defense (PD) is simply a number in the province stats. That's all you can see on the strategic display. You can't give your PD any orders. When your PD is fighting someone, it will all deploy as a big "blob" in the middle of the tactical map. Archers will shoot, infantry & cavalry will charge straight ahead, and spellcasters will cast spells.

Because PD losses don't matter unless you lose the province. Any "dead" PD is automatically replaced on your next turn. There's really no point to reporting it....

How do you tell the difference between PD units and Regular units in the battle messages?
How do you know if it's Regular of PD units fighting in a battle?
Do PD units show up in a battle if you have regular units in a province?

Re: Bugs - Another Broken Game
If you only have PD and the enemy attacks:
Quote:
There was a battle in *
Our forces defeated the attacking force from whoever.
Enemy Combatants
commanders 2, killed 0
regular units 21, killed 19
|
If you have regular units & PD OR just regular units and the enemy attacks:
Quote:
There was a battle in *
Our forces defeated the attacking force from whoever.
Friendly Combatants
commanders 8, killed 0
regular units 293, killed 26
Enemy Combatants
commanders 2, killed 0
regular units 21, killed 19
|
And yes, regular units & PD fight together in defense of a province.

Re: Bugs - Another Broken Game
If you want to see if a unit is PD or not while you're watching a replay you can click on the units. "Real" units will have say "Home Garrison [Province]" near the top. Occasionally the province name will be blank for some reason, but the home garrison will always be there. PD troops do not have this tag. Commanders don't seem to have the tag, but they do have different names...plus most real commanders won't be anywhere near the center of the battlefield where the PD deploys.
