Re: Message sending bug
geo - thanks much for looking into it. I agree it's easy to screw up a message but in fact i've been careful all to many times. It's been going on that long. I always confirm that me empire screens show the neccessary "message sent" and whatnot as I did again this time with today's turn.
One recourse I could try it uninstalling the game and reinstalling it from scratch, patching it, and running my turn. I'd be curious to see if this corrects the problem. Maybe it's some kind of degenerative thing that happens? I'll give it a shot tonight. Since it worked for you to send a message it seems likely it's something specific with my installation of SE4
If that doesn't work, the Last thing to do other then reordering when i actually click my Messages (i've probably done that anyways by now) I guess is start sending game files.
I'll keep you posted on what happens tonight after the reinstall.

Re: Message sending bug
It could be as Slaughtermeyer said and doing the message Last makes a difference. I was pretty much just doing a message, so it would have been Last.
I don't think in your case it haad anything to do with pathing as all the systems were pretty well connected IIRC.

Re: Message sending bug
true.. i removed and reinstalled SE4 and applied the latest patch. Then redid my turn and uploaded it. Guess we'll see if that helps at all when the game runs tonight. Will post results tomorrow

Re: Message sending bug
well after uninstalling and erasing the shrapnel games directory, reinstalling and repatching - i ran my turn yesterday and i'm happy to say that today, both my partners got the Messages i sent to them.
So we've at least established it was something with my install that became corrupt somehow. Or so it seems unless i just got "lucky" this turn. But given the below research i'd say i probably fixed it by reinstalling.

Re: Message sending bug
Keep us posted.
Out of curiosity, at what point in your turn did you do your Messages this time? It's hard solving equations with multiple variables.

Re: Message sending bug
either at the beginning or towards the beginning.. I didn't pay much attention this time unfortunetly as i was fairly certain the reinstall would work.
I didn't have message problems until well into the game.. around turn 50 i think it cropped up for me. For another player he'd been having problems longer though. Right now we're on turn 86

Re: Message sending bug
I am not sure if i am having that problem as my ally is ignoring my demands to attack a common enemy in Titanium. I hope it isn't this problem although i am not sure how i could check other then asking him outright. On a slightly related topic does anyone know what the numbers in the text files called:
[gamename]_plr_[plr number]_events.txt
and the file
[gamename]_plr_[plr number]_stats.txt
I guess you could run a very controlled game and look at all the numbers. They have no bearing on the game obviously but do do something in the way of outputs i think. Not sure. They are appearing in all my PBW turns when i told it to include stats for players. Not an issue, just a question.
EDIT: i know what the events is, that is spelled out, the number after date is player and i dont' know the other numbers. (always 0's)
