Re: Deciphering Pretender Titles, Affliction Lists
If you are planning to use the info in an MP game to figure out what god they used then you should know that (for now) you can add your own titles to the list by putting comma and title in the name. Such as:
Dagoth, the Sleeping God
####, the Unpronouncable (great for the glowing rune thing)
<@>, the Unblinking Eye
/\*/\, the Backstabber (that Mictlan flying bat god that is an assassin?)
$#!+, the Censored (great if you fudge in using that naked version of the God of Fertility)
Baphomet, ignore man behind curtain (sorry for the Wizard of Oz reference. Im old)
Queen Mother, the InLaw (Mother of Monsters?)
Iam, (I am, I am, I am a God!) (love it for the guy being carried in the chair)
Its not an unlimited typeing space. And it can mess up some screens. Dont end the title with a comma since the game will add a comma and some more titles. It can be fun.

Re: Deciphering Pretender Titles, Affliction Lists
Based on the string table, there are a LOT of titles. See attachment for the list of titles and appellations.
Edit -- Added attachment. Thought it was their before, weird.

You can still differentiate between those that were added and those that were given if you look at the pretender screen (F4).
You can have even more fun with special key combinations...

As far as I know, special characters worked in Dom2 but not in Dom3

Re: Deciphering Pretender Titles, Affliction Lists
It can be done in many windows programs using the number keypad and the alt key. So alt-254 gives you a square; and alt-251 gives checkmark;
It can also be done using the CHAR tool in windows then cut-n-pasting but that doesnt seem to work in Dom3 also

Re: Deciphering Pretender Titles, Affliction Lists
I think it's a great idea to create a list of titles and what they (may) indicate. This is one of the very few ways to get intel on an enemy pretender before seeing them in battle, and I'm sure some fanatic fans have their lists and interpretations. Making a shared list public would be a way to balance this potential experience benefit back by giving everyone the same data.
If we have a list of all the possible titles, and we can guess at all the variables in how titles are selected, we can get a bunch of volunteers (or scripts?) to generate a lot of pretenders with pre-sets attributes, and see what we get. Some of the variables are pretty apparent: there are many titles which are tied to magic paths chosen, and the number of titles seems to be based on the dominion level. Are there titles based on scales, or are some only for very high levels of a magic path, or combinations of magic paths, or lack of magic paths? Probably some are available only for certain pretender forms, or nations. If we just generate lots of combinations of pretenders and put the data together, I'll bet many of the answers will show up pretty simply. Plus, then I will know how to avoid ever creating "the God with Backward Feet".
I always tend to include "titles" in the name of my pretenders also. I like it since it forces all the game, even messengers from other (lesser) pretenders, to acknowledge the divine nature of "Majestic Kera, Heir of Celestial Life", or whomever.

If you have the right keyboard: AltGr and O, or AltGr and P.
