Problem sending pbem thru gmail
The player I'm playing a pbem game has problems sending the game turns thru gmail. He sends them thru outlook with no problem. I'm able to send him my turn thru gmail with no problems and he receives it ok. when he tries to send it to me it locks up. Anyone have the same problem or any ideas what's the problem... tks in advance

Re: Problem sending pbem thru gmail
Just a long shot, but you might have him try renaming the file from whatever.2h to whatever.txt or whatever.trn to whatever.txt or zip the file. Perhaps gmail is blocking the sending of the file as being suspicious, but it is strange that he could receive the files. Worth a try.

Re: Problem sending pbem thru gmail
I have no trouble sending .trn files through g-mail.
If the system is freezing up, it's probably the size of the file - his connection *to* gmail might be really slow, while his connection to the e-mail provider for his ISP (which is presumably what outlook uses) would be much faster?
.2h files are not that big so this seems unlikely to be the source of the problem, though.

Re: Problem sending pbem thru gmail
I played a nearly complete pbem game (turn 73 now) via gmail account and never had any problems. Even .trn files with 1,5 mb were a problem (got and send trn and 2h files without any zip)

Re: Problem sending pbem thru gmail
It might be his account. I recently found out that yahoo mail was renaming my files and taking the spaces out and turning them into underscores (one of these: _ ).

Re: Problem sending pbem thru gmail
We are on turn 47 of the Clash game, all done through Gmail with no problems. Infact Gmail has been very helpful to me as a host. I highly suggest it to other hosts.

Re: Problem sending pbem thru gmail
He said Outlook works fine, it's Gmail that's broken. And Gmail is nice enough that it would be nice to fix the issue instead of abandoning it. Hopefully we'll hear if the issue is ever resolved.

Re: Problem sending pbem thru gmail
File size limit?
Or the extension (.trn)
Are you sure he is attaching it and not having the program try to include it in the body of the message?
I would try zipping it so that early_ulm.trn becomes early_ulm.zip which mail programs tend to trust more
