Default a wrappable map for large games

OK after a day of playing with paradoxharbinger's MapGen I have come up with something I like. Its 2000x1500 pixels.
1055 provinces of 895 land and 160 water
land players have a ratio of 49 prov each for 18 players
water players have a ratio of 53 each for 3 players

Its a fully wrapped map. That means the top connects to the bottom and the sides connect to each other.

Here is a view of it
http://www.dom3minions.com/RandomMaps/Max_001.jpg
and here is the download link if you want the map
http://www.dom3minions.com/RandomMaps/Max_001.zip

The MapGen program is an ongoing project. Its available for Windows.

Brown = Mountains? or border mountains?

That thing's huge.... Would be awesome for a long, long term game.

So far the map generator that PH is making uses only the old Dom2 terrains. And those are my colors rather than his defaults (in case other people load maps done by that program so you know)

Yeah brown is mountains (not border mountains)
yellowy is waste (what I think of as desert)
yellow-green is swamp
dark green forest
light green is farmland
middle green is plains
blue is water of course

So unfortunately it has no deep water, no caves, and no designations for logical magic site placement. It also has no nostarts (marking off bad provinces for players to start in).

However it can generate wrapped maps. That can avoid the problem of one player getting a highly defendable corner position while another ends up out in the middle. EVERYONE is in the middle with a wrapped map. Everyone has people all around them.

Maps should be posted to the sub-forum but Im hoping to generate some interest in this map-generator project. (people doing things for free are paid by satisfaction, please, and thank yous). Right now he is trying to find someone to make us some tiny trees, mountains, etc so they can be filled into the provinces for a more mappish look.

If no one else makes some variety for us then EVENTUALLY I will offer maps of more sizes on my Dom3minions site like I did on my Dom2minions site
the Dom2Minions Daily Random Map Generations
And if PH hasnt built it into this program yet then I will probably write my own little Basic one to add in some of the other Dom3 map features.

I do also. My usual ones tend to be more like this...
the Great Continent
4 seperate oceans, and the land is a maze of border mountains. LOTs of chokepoints.

Or this one....
Divide and Conquer
which recognizes that a game tends to get down to giant nations.

Ouch my bad. Im sorry.
Those are from my keepers directory. I generate random maps each night using 5 different map generators (soon 6). Then in the morning I look at the batches. I move the ones I like to various project directorys. Those were from the "Keepers" dir for huge maps with the Dom3 generator.
http://www.dom3minions.com/RandomMap...rs/keepers.htm
Im afraid that I havent done anything with them yet.

I have had 2 up for abit though. TriMega has 1495 provinces for those who like large long solo games.
http://www.dom3minions.com/RandomMaps/TriMega.jpg
which can be downloaded at
http://www.dom3minions.com/RandomMaps/TriMega.zip

And for those who are as crazy as I am there is Mega Map.
http://www.dom3minions.com/RandomMaps/MegaMap.jpg
http://www.dom3minions.com/RandomMaps/MegaMap.zip
The description on it is
#description "This map has 1495 provinces. There is enough room to play
with all of the nations of an era, and still have wilderness between you
for quite awhile. In fact you have nearly 70 provinces each. There are
also random surprises scattered around the map. You might even start with some."

Actually they are both big enough to play with 75 nations if you want to download the SingleAge mod that puts them all nto the early age for one game. MegaMap has been known to crash some peoples machines. And it takes a LONG time to do the first generation of a turn which causes many people to think it has locked up. But its generating almost twice the number of randoms as any other map, and double that again for the many wierd surprises I put in it.

Thanks Gandalf! I appreciate all you do for us lazy bums. I have been wanting to play with a fully wrapped big map but I've been too..... lazy to edit a random map myself.
