Surely only Gandalf Parker would have a game so big it blew the 100k limit...

That said, some of my recent games have gotten pretty slow, so I have switched to windowed mode so I can do other things between turns. It does slow the processer down even more, but I am entertained, so it is fine.

Large map, multiple freespawn races, it's quite possible.

No freespawn races (no Pangea, no Ermor). I'm reporting this to the bug thread discussion along with the zipped game file.

Spawning is not automatic every turn, especially with low dominion. The number varies and you do not get massive numbers, like you do with maenads in Pangaean turmoil dominion.
