If there was a need for an example of a pi** poor company EA Games would fit that bill perfectly.

I have Sim City 4 Deluxe and need to register it, but since I have already registered it, I cannot re-register it. This means that I cannot access updates and or official files for the game because the broken EA Games Maxis Simcity4.com site won't let me. Since I had registered before, some four years ago, and don't recall my log in information I cannot re-register it. Wonderful. So I start to look for contact info so that I can get this sorted out. THERE IS NONE. I have just spent the last hour going round and round with that damned EAgames.com site.

If I had a problem with this site, or a Shrapnel game I can simply come here and ask for help. Shrapnel games does a wonderful job in allowing easy access to help. EA Games does not. Its as if they have hidden the information. Hell they are more secretive than the CIA. What the hell is the point to that? Why make it so hard for your customers to contact you about a problem?

Big Game Publishers: "Screw Customer Service, We have Money!"

Sometimes companies will leave direct contact information in their whois data. For example, got a problem with the wikipedia? Call Jimmy Wales him at his home with his whois information.

Well this guy bought a digital camera from CompUSA and the box was empty. He posted a blog about it and a day later, a DAY, compUSA sent him a gift certificate. Of course there was a lot more to it, he had called them, went to their store, and even wrote the President of the company about it before posting his blog yesterday. He called their phone system anti-customer service. And that about sums it up. These retailers look at the very people who buy their products as pests to be swatted away. They know for every 1 angry customer they have leave the table, there are 6 waiting to sit down and consume their product.

I figure that if all the rebates I have ever sent in were all to actually pay me I could conceivably be able to buy a new PC with money to spare. I have only received about a 100th of the money I have applied for in rebates. Rebates are just a slick way to rip people off.

If memory serves, isn't best buy, compusa, and circuit city all under investigation for rebate crap. Hell, I got my rebate after a week once I got the state consumer affairs office involved.

Right now, I buy nothing that says mail-in rebate. It's a damned scam for people to buy an inferior product at an inflated price.

Ie if a printer is suggested at $70 bucks, and has a $35 dollar mail in rebate, it's only worth $35 bucks and is marked up 200%
