Shadow Vestals rock big time, I had a W9S9 bless on mine with dominion of 10 and I just recruited 10 every turn. They are by far and away your best troop type.
With that bless, just 10SV's can conquer virtually any, yes any indie no problem. So early on you should win the expansion race no problem. However you will then attract alot of hatred off your fellow players.
When I played them in MP I was at war continously from turn 12'ish till the turn 50'ish my end. That constant war, plus the death scale is what killed me.
Finally, beware MA Marignon it has all the tools to give you a very bad time.
