Killed the process and restarted, can connect now.

My turn is very complicated so I gave myself some extra time  .

A new turn is hosted.
I'm turning QH off so that I can do my turns in chunks (it just hosted while I was partway through my turn  ).

Uhm, you can always do that. Just grab your turn when you login, then disconnect when you're at the game screen with the national flags. Then you can prepare your turn offline like you would do a SP game. When you connect to the server again, the turn that you prepared offline will get uploaded automatically. |
