The only spell it will cast is Mind Hunt (which is nice... that part works just fine). On the battlefield all you can do is carry it around.

Feeblemindness can happen but the mage will still be able to use the mind hunt from the mirror

In the same regard as any non-mage can use item spells, I guess. The question is, does a successful Mind Hunt attempt from somebody without astral magic still result in a Mind Burn / Soul Slay? |

Yes, it does. The mage I have it on is not an astral mage, and he has made several successful attacks.
