Re: Mara - EA game for newish players - recruiting
Done.
Wow, that was incredibly fast. Okay, we're full then. But if anyone else would like to play, post anyway and I'll start a new game up.
Okay, you can start uploading your pretenders. Here's how:
- Go to Game Tools -> Create a pretender god in Dominions
- Go to the savedgames/newlords folder in the dominions directory, and find your pretender file (e.g. mid_pythium_0.2h)
- E-mail the file to: pretenders[ at ]llamaserver[ dot ]net
- Crucially, you must have the game name, 'Mara', in the subject line of your e-mail
You can see who's joined so far at www.llamaserver.net .

I've created an overspill game now called 'Chupacabra'. Anyone who didn't get in on this one but would like to play, please sign up to that one instead.

Ugh. Helheim, lanka, and mictlan.
Whoever lasts past the tenth turn deserves a prize, methinks.

I've decided on Maverni. Don't have time to create a pretender just yet. I'll do it later tonight though.

Re: Mara - EA game for newish players - recruiting
ARgh, it's true this could be a viciously rushy game. People should take that into account when designing pretenders. An SC might be a good idea, and you might want to run a test game to see if it can withstand a small rush of Helheim sacreds.
By the way, if you want to change your pretender design but have already e-mailed it in, you can always e-mail in a new one and it will use the new version.

Re: Mara - EA game for newish players - recruiting
You can control the placement of the nations, right Llamabeast?
If a quick rush is going to be the huge concern it seems it might, why not just place the three major rush-y nations together in one 'corner' of the map? Maybe even with an extra 'buffer zone' of 1 or 2 provinces' distance from that group of 3 and the rest of the players.
If they're going to rush other players out of the game--let them rush each other. : )
Will we need to download a new map to play this game?

Re: Mara - EA game for newish players - recruiting
I'll have a think about how to place the nations, thanks for the ideas IndyPendant.
I'll attach the map file here when the game's about to start (and I've made the thing).
Right, I suggest a deadline of late Sunday night for getting the pretenders in. As in, maybe 8am Monday morning in the UK, so late at night in the US. This is arbitrary, it's just to provide some encouragement to get your pretenders in so we can get the game started.
