Currently there are no custom shipsets for SE5 loaded on the server for play. There are a few in the file library, but that only allows you to share and mark your empire on PBW like you can with SE4. Unfortunatly SE5 is written in a way that the actual custom race files need ot be on the server to function properly. We've been unsuccesfully lobbying Malfador to make a change so that we won't be required to put all the custom shipsets on the server. Since it doesn't appear that's going to happen, I've been trying to come up with a way to do it that won't cause a major administrative headache for the website, but I haven't got it yet.

I know the Ngrath are installed on PBW for play.

maybe we should do some sort of neo-official shipset pack that gets updated bi-monthly or something...

That's right, I did install the Ngarth at one point.

Anything that takes the mental work out of it for me would be a plus. If somone wants to take on the role of chief shipset vetter they could keep an eye on what's available, put it together in a package, tell me which files go where, and then nag me to upload it and I'd do my best to get it on the server.

If people are waiting on me or one of the other current admins to see a shipset out there and take the initiative to put it on the server, it honestly won't ever get done. And if we get 60 requests from 50 players and have to take the time to make sure the files are all correct and figure out where they go, it's going to get quite tedious and likely nothing will happen either.

But if someone wants to take the initiative and do some grunt work and tie it all up in a nice bow for me I'll take the last step and put them on the server.

I'll even give you a title and make you an official PBW admin. How about it, someone want a part time job with no pay, little responsibility, little respect and lot's of work?

I discovered all this months ago. It became apparent to me the shipsets not only had to be uploaded to PBW but made "part" of PBW. I actually sent you a message about this, Geoschmo, but you never replied. I didn't consider it worth making a fuss. In my case making a fuss means asking twice

Yep, I remember Randall. At least I remember we've gotten questions and requests at various times. Not saying I remember each one individually. Sorry for not responding at the time. Mostly I haven't done anything about it to this point because I kept thinking Malfador was going to address it in a patch and eliminate the problem. It's becoming apparent that's not going to happen though. So we are left with coming up with some sort of manual process to deal with it.

Don't ever feel like you are making a fuss by requesting something more than once. Sometimes I need the friendly nag so I don't forget or prioritize something out of existance. I've got no problem putting the files on the server, I just don't have the time or the inclination to coordinate it all. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one of the PBW admins that plays SE5 at all, and I don't really play it. I do testing mostly regarding specific issues replated to how the game functions on the server. I don't have time for much else.

Someone or a few people that know more about how the custom race files work for SE5 and wants to take the initiative can put this together and I'll put the files on the server.
