Re: Best way to get in range.
Opposition or control are good and they have long range.

Re: Best way to get in range.
Yeah that was going to be my suggestion. If you really want to focus your attack on magic beings, Opposition and Control are the ones you want. Still - I presume that Eagle Kings have great MR. It wont be easy.

Re: Best way to get in range.
You can also set the commanders (mages) at far side edge of the battlefield and then set them to attack one turn, followed by cast, cast, cast. Its not the best option but it will cause them to run forward. Having them attack for only 1 turn will usually not get them into hand-to-hand combat range but will get them up closer to where they have a better list of combat spells to use.

Re: Best way to get in range.
You might want to give them some stout body guards if you do what gandolf is suggesting.
Maybe we are going about this the wrong way. Maybe you should make the Eagle Kings come to you? Maybe rage, any other ideas?

Re: Best way to get in range.
Other ideas:
Any long-range or battlefield-wide attacks. e.g. Farstrike
Assassins and assassination spells.
Summoning lots of air elementals & other lightning-immune air summons.
You don't happen to have the "useless" Air-9 bless do you? If so, Masters of the Five Elements would have 125% shock res...
Thunder Ward & Storm Warriors
Nailing their army with Murdering Winter
Hide underwater.

Re: Best way to get in range.
Simple answers:
rings tamed lighting; script mages to cast resist lighting,
and later in the game, cast storm warriors.
use diversions. chaff. cast summon elemental.
Caelum has low hps. do spells that target all units on the battlefield(rain of stones etc).

Mist? Acid storm? The poison spell which makes it come out of the ground?

Re: Best way to get in range.
All the speels that affect magic beings only are short range. There is none that will help you here.

Re: Best way to get in range.
Well, at least with EA T'ien Ch'i I have a plethora of ways of dealing with it. My mages come with air and can fly and my sacreds come with shock resistance. It would really suck to deal with without air.
