Anti-Iron Dragon Tactics?
How would you defend yourself against small packs of Iron dragons (5-10)?
They seem nigh unstoppable to anything I've tried

They have low magic resistance... so there's a good handful of spells which can work.

I think there's a spell that specifically deals lots of damage to constructs.

Re: Anti-Iron Dragon Tactics?
Killing the leader via remote spell, then just drop a call of the winds or similar on the dragons and they'll 'splode with no magical leadership on the field. Or if you can pop the leader in combat that works too.
And Jedi's right, their MR is kind of janky, so opposition or the like should make them cry.
SCs should also be able to take down a bunch of them pretty easily. Anything size 5-6 should be safe enough from the trampling and if you add on eth/luck and regen they won't be able to do lasting damage with their normal attack. Then it's just a matter of how many of them you can hack through before you rout on turn 50 (or if you're defending they'll again dissolve when the leader routs, so you don't even need to kill them off)
They're really much less nasty than, say, 5 aboms =)

Opposition, Control, Shatter, Gifts from heaven, banefire might be good if you target the dragons. It might depend on what nation you are and what magic you have access to.

Re: Anti-Iron Dragon Tactics?
I lost my most recent Iron Dragon from Claws of Cocytus. No MR roll for that. Inferno would work too. Without magical leadership I suspect it dissolved in the Cocytus.
Are only leaders able to return from Inferno/Cocytus or could an element immune chaff return from Inferno/Cocytus if lucky enough?

I did not check but Aren't they mindless. Doesn't that mean you would have to use control on them?

Re: Anti-Iron Dragon Tactics?
Probably right. Just thinking of standard anti-(big, low mr) monster tactics.
