Welcome back.
It would be handy to have an updated color list. In case I ever actually try doing some game-progress charts

Hi Argitoth!

There's not going to be a Dominions IV. The current engine is already a mess, and almost everything that can be done, has been. So for their next game, Illwinter will have to do a new engine, and it's more fun to do a totally new game than to recreate an old engine. I don't remember which thread this is from, or even if I remember it right, but AFAIK that's about it.

Dominions III is doing fine, though, and it has already gotten several nations in various patches. C'tis is still lizards, but it's divided into three eras now. Early Age is the most powerful magically, and it's Sauromancers are closest to the DomII ones IIRC. They'll fight against Niefelheim, Helheim, Tir Na Nog (like Last of the Tuatha, except without the 'last') etc. MA C'tis is Miasma, and its opponents are base Ulm, Marignon, Pythium, Broken Empire Ermor, Iron Woods etc "base" themes of DomII. LA C'tis is the reanimating theme, and goes against undead Ermor (which has access to the Soul Gate global), New Era Pangaea with access to Carrion Woods global, new R'lyeh with population-killing, void-spawning, madness-causing dominion, Ulm Black Forest, humanbred-infested Abysia etc.
So while all the options are still there for C'tis, you'll find yourself playing against different enemies. Don't except the skellies to work quite as well against Abysia that has flame-shielded sacreds (early), or with Quickness rightfully nerfed to not affect spellcasting (middle), or when everyone and their dead mother have Death (late).

The modding community has exploded, btw. There are many very nice mods out there, conceptual balance is back crazier than ever. And clams are now Water/Nature, there are unique Doom Horrors like Eater of Gods (worth his name too), and Atlantis will be forced out of the water in the late era. And IRC is still for blitzes.
