Re: Map-in-Progress: Ye Olde Worlde
Alright, I'm firmly on solid ground again and can continue building this map. Joy of joys, I get to do it on a brand new gaming rig
Sombre: I suppose you are right about that. I got my hands on the Empire army book again and Ulm really is the most appropriate Dom3 nation to stand in. That still begs the question of where Ermor belongs.
Aezeal: Not a bad justification. PM me and we can figure it out.

Re: Map-in-Progress: Ye Olde Worlde
A preview of Bretonnia, starting location for Marverni and Man and the home of the chivalric Arthurian kingdom that bears its name in the Warhammer mythos. The feature in/near the Massif Orcal, that very small southern mountain range, is the Black Chasm -- a Skaven lair -- and a hint of what I have in store for the Under-empire and cave provinces in the Warhammer World.
Athel Loren is also in this pic. It will be the starting location for Pangaea or alternately a very tough special province in games that don't include Pangaea.

Re: Map-in-Progress: Ye Olde Worlde
Here's another preview for the interested audience. This is the Badlands region located to the south of the Empire and the Border Principalities. Pictured are the Marshes of Madness in the west and to the east on the shore of the Sour Sea is Nagashizzar, below which lies the Cursed Pit, and a number of dwarf and skaven holds beneath the mountains.

That map is going to look VERY nice when it's done. I'm really looking forward to it!

Looks great! Definetly going to be a worthy addition to the maps list.

Re: Map-in-Progress: Ye Olde Worlde
This is shaping up to be one of the best maps IMO. I love maps with special provinces on them. One of my favorites in Dom 2 was the Faerun map, because the specials were a significant part of the game. I really like that in single player!
Its already a beautiful map zepath!! Looking forward to it :-)

I feel quite the same way as Mordici, this looks to be an utterly enjoyable SP map you are creating here. I am seriously looking forward to it. Thank you ever so much for your efforts.
I don't suppose you might have any idea when you might have a beta test version out for us, eh? ;-)

Re: Map-in-Progress: Ye Olde Worlde
Thanks Gandalf and DigitalSin
Mordici: The Faerun map is a big inspiration for me. Definitely expect lots of special provinces in the "adventure" version of the map. You'll start the game in an out-of-the-way province while the famous provinces from the Warhammer world will be defended by thematic armies and commanders. Taking those provinces will garner appropriate rewards. For example, controlling Altdorf will make the Colleges of Magic available and allow you to recruit specialized wizards... that is if you can defeat the Emperor's army.
Panpiper: A beta is still a ways down the road. Even with the Old World and Ulthuan mostly finished, I've got a lot left to draw! I'll probably release a vanilla version of the map once it's fully drawn and balanced. The "adventure" version will come a bit later.

Re: Map-in-Progress: Ye Olde Worlde
Keep in mind that you can provide multiple .map files with the same .tga file all in the same zip. That way the zip gets only a very tiny bit bigger but can add multiple map/games to the persons menu. Maybe something like
ye Old Worlde
YOW no-indepts
YOW with special provinces
YOW with added armies
YOW with a specially boosted version of Mictlan AI
