Or visit sunny Florida. Send your wife and kids (if applicable) to Disney!

Re: SEIV Con. 1 -- OHIO
I honestly doubt an SE Convention could function, at least not on it's own. Maybe grouped with a Trek or general Sci-Fi Convention.
To do so, we would have to find a way to boost SE ten fold with books, toys, clothing, and more. Franchise the game!
I'm talking to a friend up in Vancouver about an idea that could do so... Once I render the project possible on my time tables, I'm going to submit it to Malfador & Shrapnel for thier thoughts and hopefully a blessing.

Re: SEIV Con. 1 -- OHIO
Actually, running a big SEIV LAN game at a game convention (whatever's local) would probably work really well.

Re: SEIV Con. 1 -- OHIO
You Americans and Canadians are all far too insular - forget the continental united states, there is another world out there
Let's do the convention in Europe or even better, Thailand

Re: SEIV Con. 1 -- OHIO
This topic reminds me:
There is an annual LAN convention here in Michigan (actually there are a few of them at the universities) that I have to look up. I keep missing it every year and I want to go.
If I do go to one of the LAN parties, maybe I could see about getting SE4 up and running; that would be something!
And if there is a convention in Ohio, should it ever get organized, I'd go.

Hadrian Aventine
A convention would break even and probalby turn a small profit. The key is to start small and build it each year as you gain experiance.
This worked for BattleGroupe Boston, (the miniatures wargame club I belonged to), and their convention "Havoc".
SG and MM, and other SG game companines will profit indirectly from exposure.
Cons are a lot of work. They can be very rewarding. They can also be a major financial risk if you guarantee a hotel X amount of rooms and they don't get filled.
I have a lot more thoughts if anybody would like them.
