Re: TDM vs P&N
2419.7:
The Vaxin fleet has arrived. An additional, unexpected arrival is the Medusa, a capture frigate directly from the Albireo shipyards. Stripped down to mostly engines, the capture frigates are incredibly fast.
The two fleets close in, and the Vaxin fire first with thier long range acid slingers, but the agile Hummers have plenty of time to dodge.
DUC shells are loosed; the lead Cruiser staggers under the blows, but her shields hold.
The Vaxin ships pick out a Hummer with a malfunctioning Scattering Armor plate, and pour plasma and acid into her. Shields are pierced, and a third of the defense grid blackens.
The Hummer falls back through the fleet, and two more move in to take its place.
Hammer blows fall upon the weakened Vaxin Cruiser, piercing the shields and shattering the armor plating. The ship is gutted, with half of its systems hopelessly ruined.
The Vaxin are at close range now, and close range plasma bLasters spray wildly. Two furies are hit, but the ablative armor does its job. The Acid launchers are still locked onto the damaged Hummer, and it is bLasted as it goes into a full retreat. The destroyer's defenses are completely compromised, and weapons destroyed, but it is rapidly exiting the Vaxin weapons range.
The defending forces split their fire on the two nearest Vaxin, but the first ship somehow manages to avoid every shot. The second is not so lucky, and is gutted.
Vaxin acid seeks out the weakest Fury, and bLasts through her armor; bleeding badly, the ship fires wildly, and turns to run.
DUCs strike back, and another Vaxin Cruiser converts itself into a flaming projectile.
Vaxin plasma bLasters rip half the armor off of a second Fury, and the retreating Fury absorbs an acid blob without slowing.
The Vaxin fleet leader is the next target, and takes an unlucky hit to the engine core, leaving it armed but immobile as the Dominion's forces pull away.
From long range, a volley of DUCs fails to breach the armor of the Vaxin fleet, but the return fire is quite inaccurate as well, and the ablative armor on the Furies holds together.
A similar exchange with a second Vaxin ship nearly breaches the armor on one of the Furies, and it too is forced to retreat.
Losing wingmen too fast, the Furies fall back, and allow the shielded Hummers to provide cover.
Scattered acid globs skip past the Hummers, and plasma bolts erupt all around, but only one hits a Fury.
DUC rounds stream forth again, the Hummers targeting distant Vaxin, while the Furies unload on any Vaxin that venture too close.
Only three Vaxin ships pose a threat now, but one of the Hummer's shields are weakening from plasma hits.
Weapons fire is exchanged back and forth at maximum range, with precious few hits, but eventually another Fury's armor begins to crack, and leaves two two continue the battle.
The Last two Vaxin cruisers have lost shielding, but one has persistent armor, and refuses to falter.
The Hummer's shields are also showing strain, with half the the ships below half strength.
More exchanges, and the Cruiser's defenses finally give in. The Vaxin Battlecruiser is still delivering powerful blows, and when another Vaxin cruiser appears out of the cloud of wrecked ships to fire acid bolts, a shot pierces the shields on a Hummer.
Concentrated fire crushes the defenses on the Battlecruiser while the Hummer retreats. A second volley rips through the armor, and the Vaxin flagship detonates with a quantum reactor-fueled bLast.
A second Hummer loses shield integrity and retreats while the rest of the fleet prepares to advance on the remains of the Vaxin fleet with the Medusa close behind.
The Last operational Cruiser is no match for the active Dominion forces, and is quickly overcome and vaporized.
Dominion warships move through the fleet, silencing the remaining guns, and the Medusa takes her pick of the wrecks.
The Dominion ships turn their thoughts from battle to the inevitable paperwork, and begin to tally the required repairs.

Re: TDM vs P&N
2419.8:
Three of the Furies are useless, and along with the damaged Hummer, are making their way back to Albireo. The remaining craft should be ready for combat in a few days.
The Vaxin cruiser still has some intact engines, but noone in the fleet can figure out how to get the stupid thing started. A construction ship has been called from Albireo; if we can't figure out the problem with these Vaxin engines soon, it will be cut up and towed home in pieces.
Another wave of Vaxin BattleCruisers has been spotted moving insystem, but at their present speed, we have half a year to prepare.
At least half of the ships damaged in the Last battle should be back in service by then, but the enemy fleet is larger than ever.
Reports from home are quite negative lately. The Last batch of Furies is nearing completion, but the work is draining our reserve funds. Ten should be completed in the next four months, but production will have to be cut back drastically when our mineral reserves give out.
Scientists describe elaborate theories on how to solve the resource problems, but none of them can be expected to happen in less than a decade.
Aside from economics, there are uncommon numbers of industrial accidents lately. One of the Construction bases has even committed suicide after a premature reactor ignition destroyed the defense base it was working on.

Re: TDM vs P&N
Ok, I've got to know...
How are my poor harmless Vaxin doing against your horrible, beastly, enemy of peace empire, anyway?

Re: TDM vs P&N
Well, the Vaxin, destroyers of worlds, and the Canadian Dominion, peaceful intellectuals not afraid to defend their homes, have been experiencing a universal time distortion.
Canadian scientists believe it has something to do with an excess amount of Au in alternate universes.

Re: TDM vs P&N
Uh-oh, this sounds serious. I've heard of this affliction before, and rarely does anyone survive to continue on. Well, perhaps in the new AU there will be another interesting conflict.

Re: TDM vs P&N
2420.0:
Minerals are very scarce in dominion territory these days, and the construction of the new Furies is being delayed because of it.
A large number of old escort class warriors have been retired, and production contracts everywhere are not being renewed.
Almost 40% of our military is out of service now, due to damage or early retirements.
The political situation outside our borders is decaying as well. There are at least four separate wars that have broken out, and all of our allies are involved in one way or another.
Tales are told of the ever increasing wealth of the Vaxin Consortium, but we can only hope they are lies or at least over exaggerations.
Only two positive points of news recently. First, our scientists have made breakthroughs in the energy shield technology being employed by the Vaxin.
The physics of the fields are calculable now, and engineers have improved the armor-shield boundary efficiency to 60%. You'd have to ask a physics professor to tell you what that really means, but from what I'm told, that level of efficiency makes the devices rival our best pure-armor plates.
The second bit of good news is that Phoenix has been recognized by the military high command. The construction ship which arrived to haul off the Vaxin prisoners bore with it the codes for a two-star Blazing Fury III, which has been given to Phoenix with full honours.
Phoenix's wingmen will receive BF3 codes as soon as the budget will allow for it.

Re: TDM vs P&N
2420.2:
Phoenix has nearly completed her metamorphosis, but the Vaxin fleet has arrived.
Seven BattleCruisers and five Light Cruisers approaching in tight formation.
The vaxin fire first, from well outside the weapons range of the dominion ships. Phoenix is hit once, but her new shield-armor easily absorbs the blow.
The Vaxin close in, and target Phoenix with their short range cannons. She is struck twice amidst the hail of plasma bolts, shields down to 70%.
Dominion Hummers open fire on the nearest Vaxin ship, a light cruiser, but the small ship is able to weave through most of the shots.
Phoenix strikes a blow, and the weak defenses of the LC are disabled. The other two Furies spray shells, but between them only manage to shear off the non-functional shield generator.
Concentrated Vaxin fire hammers Phoenix in return, burning away the shields, and melting her armor into goo.
Her parting shots cripple the LC, and Phoenix limps away from the battle.
Dominion ships bLast away the shields on a Vaxin BC, and the Vaxin unload more fire at Phoenix.
Nearly unrecognizable, and unresponsive, the Phoenix tumbles away on her initial course.
Another exchange of weapons fire scores light internal damage to a Vaxin LC, and heavy damage do the defenses on one of the Hummers.
Soon, the Vaxin LC is disabled, and the shields on a second BC collapse, in exchange for the Last of the shield-armor on the Hummer.
A second Hummer is savaged by acid and plasma, for light internal damage on a third Vaxin BC.
The Vaxin are winning the battle, so the Capture ships are called to the front.
The Vaxin ships close in, and pound the two damaged Hummers into scrap, but the capture ships drive forward amongst a hail of DUC fire. The Vaxin leader's shields collapse, and Medusa's troopers storm aboard. The Vaxin ship bursts into a nova as the selfdestruct sprays an antimatter mist. One of the crippled Hummers, and the Wasp class escort ram a nearby BC, and through the holes stream more marines. FOOM! another Vaxin ship erupts. The Last capture ship dives through the enemy fleet to grapple with the Last unshielded Vaxin ship, and it too erupts in flames.
The remains of the Dominion fleet fall back as the enraged Vaxin forces charge. The second Last Hummer falls to a blaze of fire, while the lead Vaxin's shields fail.
Crippled hulks are vaporized as the Vaxin pass, but the three remaining Dominion ships continue to resist. The lead BC suffers armor failure, but continues on.
Long range Acid globs begin to impact the armor of the Furies, while the return fire remains locked on the BC. The Vaxin BC has absorbed immense damage, but continues forward with what few weapons remain operational.
Finally, the Vaxin BC loses engine power, and falls behind.
On the run, the three dominion ships spray fire wildly behind them as the Vaxin LC slings plasma into the rear hulls, and the larger ships hurl Acid globs like artillery.
The LC's shields and armor collapse, but not before one of the furies has been stripped of defenses. It manages to power ahead, and leaves the other two to defend alone.
The Dominion ships reach the edge of the sector, and dish out Heavy internal damage to the LC before pulling out of the combat zone.
