When did you get involved playing Space Empires?
I was just curious as to when everyone here got involved playing Space Empires.
I started WAY back with Space Empires 2, downloaded the shareware and received the full Version by mail on a 3.5" disk when I was in college.
I remember having 2-3 player 'hotseat' games which were fun, but it made the element of surprise a bit impossible when your ally who you are about to betray sees you parking cloaked sun destroyers in all of his systems, prior to declaring war.

Re: When did you get involved playing Space Empires?
I played the SE3 demo forever i hit this one point where i couldn't get any higher in tech and me and hte AI were in this fat race to build more ships to counter hte other guy. I ended up just mining every single WP as i advanced into his homesystems wiht like 200+ mines so each wave that came woudl die, some would break through and my 80-150 ships woudl have to fight him off. I was really bad then, that was like 2.5 years ago.
I heard about SE4 and i was like 'woah i gotta get this' me and my friend are the only ppl who even know about it out here

Re: When did you get involved playing Space Empires?
I downloaded the demo for SEIV in September 2000, ordered it couple of days later.
This is one of those games you can't seem to stay away from long

Re: When did you get involved playing Space Empires?
I did a search on "Master of Orion 2" just before SE4 was released. I preordered it and got hooked. So hooked, in fact, that SE4 joined my list of "snapped CD's". Any game that is soo good that is sucks me in for too long and it effects my life I snap in half to stop the "bleeding"
Then I saw Gold and had to have it...

Re: When did you get involved playing Space Empires?
I actually discovered SE4 demo a long while ago- when it was first released actually.
I didn't pay it any mind at the time since I had just purchased MoO2 and a bunch of other TBS games. I thought, "This is too much like MoO2, so I am not much interested in it."
But recently I decided to try out the SE4 demo again, and then the SE4Gold demo, and I finally came to my senses!
What I have been missing!!

Re: When did you get involved playing Space Empires?
I found SEIII a while ago, in fact, I remember the exact Version number I found it at: v.1.13.
I played the demo up to Version 1.15, then ordered it. This was back when I was a little kid with no money... I saved for a month or so. When Aaron announced he was going to start on SEIV, and wanted the community to come up with suggestions, I participated in the e-mail list. I'm pretty sure it still exists... When the beta was announced, I signed up, and got picked. Probably one of the happiest days of my life
So now, I'm still a little kid, with no money... I haven't ordered Gold yet. I'm gonna (and a mousepad, too), as soon as I can convince the rents that it is worth their money, and it won't take away from my education
