Since research output grows steadily as the game goes on, hard research doesn't do much to constrain the wildness of the late game. It just delays it a bit.
In the early game, though, slow research is a major drawback, especially for a nation with strong mages fighting a bless rusher like I'm doing in Evermore  .

I'm fine with either, but as long as we know beforehand. I think it just might affect pretender choice
However since we are playing LA, wont the lack of gems already inhibit research indirectly?
