It depends a lot on what magic and gems you have available, and considering how often Assasins are lost to PD and the like, don't invest in more than one item.

Death Nations: Skull Talisman, C0
Nature nation: Serpent Kryss. AP and Death Poison, C2
Air nation: Longbow of Accuracy, C2
Fire Nation: Sceptor of Authority, AP and Fire Bolts
Earth: Ax or Sword of Sharpness, AP, C2
Astral: Pendant of Luck, C2
Water Frost Brand, Area Cold, C4
