Re: Suricate - pbem LA newbie game - (OPEN)
That wasn't my point.
I had no intention to attack you, I only took 3 indi provinces (near my capital) and my pretender was already back in my capital when you attacked me.
But all your posts sound like I'm the bad aggressor.
You attacked with a small force while not ready with your research and got beaten. Thats all, no "Uber-nation" or something like that.

You attack me (and everyone else) with your domain, and your expansion that close to my capital really left me no choice. Besides, with R'lyeh, the longer I wait, the worse it ends up for me. Say whatever you want, R'lyeh IS an Uber-nation, and my only option was to attack while you were small enough that there was at least a snowball's chance of making an advance.
Oh, and that "Small force" consisted of pretty much everything I was able to produce from turn 1. I didn't lose much to anything else. That many mages is only considered small at that point in the game when you are going against R'lyeh or Ermor.

Does anyone have any spare air or astral gems? I'm willing to sell water, earth, death and nature gems.

(I presume Torin is correcting Kadelake's "shall".) Really? I always thought either were okay but had subtly different meanings, the subtlety being one I'm not sure of.

Huh? Never heard that. Sorry to go OT in a thread for a game I'm not even in. But what about the meek? You know, "blessed are the cheesemakers, and the meek shall inherit the earth," and all that sort of stuff. (Well, obviously in dominions the meek are just going to inherit the pointy end of a sword, but I couldn't think of a better example.)

Re: Suricate - pbem LA newbie game - (OPEN)
Okay, I couldn't resist googling this:
Indicative:
I shall; you will; he, she, or it will. (same for plural).
Imperative:
I will; you shall; he, she, or it shall. (again, same for plural).
So, Torin is correct in the more common indicative sense. However, in the more forceful imperative it's the opposite.
Child: I won't tidy my room.
Mother: You _shall_. (i.e. a command)
This doesn't shed much light on "the meek shall inherit the earth" - apparently it's an order. Or more probably, an error.
Sorry for all the OT discussion on the thread for a game me and vfb aren't even in guys!
