Ungrouping Commanders

I'm having a problem with commanders being grouped together and i cant get them ungrouped. I had done a shift click to get them grouped in the first place and shift clicking again does not ungroup them. I've tried many combinations of different keys and no luck. Any help?

Select the group, and then control-click the ones you want out of the group.

I like to press A - group all, then A again - ungroup all.
