The Leftovers
While I can't think of something of the top of my head I thought it'd be fun to hear if you people had any strategies for the odd and (probably) underused Gods. Like the Freak Lord and the Divine Emperor. Is there a way to get something useful out of those critters or are they simply there to fill in the blanks?

Re: The Leftovers
If you're playing competitive MP games, you'll have to choose an efficient god. In SP, you can choose almost anything, and beat the AI dead with it (or without..).
There was a MOD, of divine essence, which used to make all gods equal, and this MOD was named CBM (Crispy Black Monster ?), but it is not 3.10 compatible (apart if you modify the file yourself, wich is quite simple).

Re: The Leftovers
Actually not especially, no. Since balance is something that can largly be done with modding, it takes a pretty low priority with Illwinter. Also, they are concerned about changing things that would discredit the manual.
As for CB not working with 3.10, there is a fixed version floating around, and someone posted it in the CB thread. And hopefully the new version should be out about the time of the new patch.

I personally would like to see a CB that simply balances the Gods to be more playable, and nothing else.
Or maybe the CB mod could be split up into Gods/scales/nationals/indies/items and you could load whichever pieces of it you wanted?

Re: The Leftovers
Hey, the Freak Lord has a serious advantage: If he is fleeing, your troops won't stand in his way (at least not in a way that blocks his escape).
Yes, overall, the balancing betwen the pretenders is bad, Complete Balance is the mod to go.

CBM actually IS split up that way. The version I use is compatible with 3.10, and I currently use it in a SP game where it changes the scales and the gods. It can also change the spells, the units (but I already use Better Independents) .

Re: The Leftovers
You can find the mod, compatible with 3.10, as an attachement to Agrajaj's post on page 6 of the topic "Conceptual Balance Mod (and summary file) 1.1 "
Go to the "Scenarios, maps and mods" section of the forum first.
