Re: Turn 69
I didn't have any problems watching the battle - though I do have problems with the result.
This game has been plagued with weirdness for me, most of it not in my favor. I've had commanders turn into normal troops, or vanish entirely without explanation, and artifacts vanish similarly - things might have turned out differently, I think, otherwise... On the other hand, I did get one horse tribe cavalry leader who one month somehow gained magic paths as though he were an Arcoscephalean mystic (I believe), which was kind of nice... Still doesn't make up for my Jinn disappearing in the middle of *the* critical string of battles!
Anyway, it seems quite likely that WraithLord will win with this next turn. Congratulations in advance on a game well played! It's been a lot of fun...

Re: Turn 69
The Djinn died of an acute poisoning, from what I saw. I'm not denying that there's been an awful lot of weird stuff, though, from eternally encased in ice Wyrms and Water Queens, to WQs that have 4 actions each combat round and whatnot

Re: Turn 69
Oh! So, Wraithlord played a Hey-Look-Over-There-At-Ygorl! while his hands worked overtime for the win! Grrrrrr!
If Wraithlord wins, I think he deserves a gold star, because he jumped in and played someone else's pretender.

Re: Turn 69
Not just someone else's pretender... A newbie playing ME Ulm. That's a special achievement right there.

Re: Turn 69
The acute poisoning didn't show up in my battle replay. As far as I saw, he was around at the end of one fight (including not counting as dead in the summary) and gone at the beginning of the next. Stranger things have happened, though, it's true.
Wraithlord has played a politically very savvy game (and not too shabby militarily, either... ) - I don't begrudge him his theft of my tenuous shot at victory at all...
As an aside, Eweirl maybe hasn't been in an astounding number of MP games, but he's not exactly a newbie. He had Dom2 more than three years ago (I know because I gave it to him )

Re: Turn 69
Hey, *Blushing slightly* , thank you guys for all the compliments but it would seem its too early for them. Ygorl has a huge army besieging my (previously his) fort at Arco and has already breached the walls - so can storm this turn, and though I do hope my army there could stop him, its far from certain.
I think Eweirl had a sound game plan and I thank him again for asking me if I want to take over his place.
Also I must admit that up to this point this has been my most aggressive MP game, as I was involved in bitter wars all the way since subbing. First with Boron, I attacked him while still officially subbing and he came about to give me a hell of a fight. I wasn't at all sure I'll be able to survive him and it had taken all that Ulm had to bring him down. Then came skirmishes with Migaaresno and an all out costly and difficult war with Morkilus. This attitude is usually out of stance for me, cos if I could describe my usual playing attitude (in MOM terminology) it would be pacifist, opportunist.
It is very restricting to play as ME Ulm in terms of research and magical versatility so actually I'm truly surprised I had the luck to even get to this point in the game. What's sure is that last turns are very exciting and I hope I won't get smacked in the face by the next player vying for supremacy
