got an easier method, here is the algorithm

1). open Dominions
2). try to connect
2a). If it cannot: do not close the window, go to step 1 <repeat as long as you can connect, it works here with 3 windows open...what times we are living in...XXIst century :/ >
2b). if you can: play the game
