w. race specific stuff, i sometimes go and remove all other races except the one i'm testing stuff on. So it's a lot easier when I'm testing a quest that alters how the Garthan react to you based on an object, if i only run into the garthan.
i made a quest called gimmestuff that fires off right at the start, and it gives me the items i'm testing.
Also, check out the rebooted mod. there's some good stuff in there for testing as well (like renaming stars for the quest that fires off there).
