Well cool, I learned that I have several incomplete and broken memories about those two films, and that someone actually likes Last Crusade better than Raiders.
I wasn't sure it was time travel, but that's how I remembered it, like the motif had been taken from the other "if you could assassinate Hitler, would you??????" stories which are mostly time-travel stories. Isn't it that Indy's dad contemplates killing Hitler but has doubts and then misses the chance due to delaying and a (poorly choreographed) adventure/fight? Maybe I'm misremembering that too.
