I hadn't thought of using the longbowmen on two different targets. That's a good idea.

At the moment I've been organizing my armies into a squad to defend the commander, an infantry screen squad, a knight squad and the longbowmen squad. I might make commanders more specialized to give more flexibility on deployment.

I can't seem to make it with any of my crones or even pretender, unless I'm missing something.

Astral 6, Construction 6

Ring of Sorcery is Astral 5, which can get you to the next one.
