I try to patch Dominions on Mac, but no luck!

I installed the application by clicking "Dominions" on the desktop, it installed. The folder is somewhere else, but the "Dominions" is on the desktop. I tried moving both the folder and the "Dominions" to the desktop. Nothing worked so far.

Hmm. I have a Mac and had no trouble patching.

Have you double checked your permissions? The first time I tried to patch Dom2 on a mac, I could not do it because I had not changed the permissions. If you click command-i on the dominions 3.app, you'll bring up the info on the .app, and you can make sure you have read & write permissions. Otherwise, the patch will not be able to update the .app file.

If you hate Mac so much, why aren't you using a PC instead? Why torture yourself?

I just installed the patch just fine. Make sure you move both the patching folder to your desktop, and you actual Dom3 app to the desktop. They must both be in the same place. Then run the patcher.command application. It should work.

If this did not work, then it is probably a problem with patching all the way up from 3.00 to 3.14. You may have to incrementally patch the previous versions, and then up to 3.14. Hopefully this is not the case, since I have no idea where to find the previous patch versions.

The strange thing is that Argitoth's second post show the output of the patching script, and it shows no errors. If you look at the script in a text editor, it is nothing more than a bunch of file copies. Presumably the reason you move the application to the desktop is to make the file paths predictable.

Since the entire application is replaced, one would expect you could start from whatever version you like. On the other hand, it is plausible that some associated resources (maps, sounds, unit data) might not be in the last patch. But the fact that he's seeing v3.00 in the game is a bigger issue.

Argitoth: with the Dominions application still on the Desktop (the actual application, not the folder), why don't you try opening the Terminal (from your Utilities folder) and typing this:

~/Desktop/Dominions3.app/Contents/MacOS/Dominions3 -v

This will give you another version number, to verify that it wasn't updated.

You haven't renamed the actual application, have you? That might screw up the patching.

I haven't renamed anything. I know the patch didn't work because I don't have the bogarus nation.

Yes, I hate mac. I love my PC too much to have it on 24/7.

Oh, I got it to work. I have to move the .app back into the dominions3 folder.
