Re: Warrior Women - Name hunt
Excellent! Just found a Xena: Warrior Princess site with a listing of over 80 amazons from greek mythology. That wil do nicely. I've compiled it into a txt file and I could just use that for my new race. You can keep posting here though, perhaps we'll have enough for a second names list.

Re: Warrior Women - Name hunt
You don't necessarily have to use all proper names, of course. You can use some 'mythical categories' and generic types like 'Earth Mother' or whatnot. I could probably search my 'metaphoric entities' list and find a few... hmm, a quick search only produes ***** Goddess. The others are almost all animals. Oh, well...

Re: Warrior Women - Name hunt
Thanks, this is fascinating. That site Baron posted is a good resource, and links to some fascinating sites.
Anyway, I've uploaded the amazon file to my website (from the main page, got to the "various" page.) I think I might make two more names files - one for historical warrior women (ie ones who really existed) and one for fictional / mythological ones. The Valkyries will probably use the historical file.

But shouldn't the Valkyries include fictional names of valkyries (from Wagner, norse myth, etc)?
