Having Difficulty enabling mods

I have recently purchased SEIV Gold and downloaded a bunch of mods from the New Age Shipyard. My problem is I can't get these mods to work! I have no difficulty enabling mods which came on the CD but anything I download is not recognized?!?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I don't believe the files on New Age Shipyards are fitted to work for gold yet.

Or am I wrong?

Well, Mod files for Version 1.49 (normal Space empires 4) are incompatible with gold.

They state on their web site that all races are SEIV Gold and are in working order.

hmmm.

I must be missing something...

The New Age Shipyard does not have any mods. All of its files are ship sets. To use them, you need to install them in the Races folder, which should look something like this:
C:\Space Empires IV\Pictures\Races\

Each ship set/race gets its own folder. So, if you install the Romulan ship set, then it would look like this:
C:\Space Empires IV\Pictures\Races\Romulans\
