Re: The Glowing Hill, Really?!
There is a land illithid one. Can't recall the name though. I have of course only received it once and then when I was playing Ry'leh.

Re: The Glowing Hill, Really?!
Hmm, I'll need to take a look at the Site DB, because I don't remember the land illithid one.

Re: The Glowing Hill, Really?!
I think Crater can be both on land and under seas. Not 100% sure. I've found it a couple times. Just like the Glowing Hill. Actualy, I remember the esoteric and mysterious times of Dom 1 & 2 when The Glowing Hill would allow you to recruit Vans...
That one Death site that lets you to summon Wights (or was it Banes, as units...) is also rather kickass.

The Bowl of the Lost, and Banes. At first it's strange that the Banes come as units, but it after a while it you get used to it, and it seems thematic to have a Banelord leading some Banes around.

Re: The Glowing Hill, Really?!
Seven Tombs, Death Mage enters to recruit Mummies, is pretty cool, too. Come with an AP stun attack (nifty!) and Plague Carrier (bah, Plague Carriers are annoying to handle as a non-death nation.)

Re: The Glowing Hill, Really?!
I usually get the crappy 'enter to summon 1 shade' site.

Re: The Glowing Hill, Really?!
The Crater is deep sea only and it's the only site that gives illithids. Can appear on land only if scripted in map file.

I've got that site . Or one like it. Temple of Darkness, and every turn my Revenant gets a Shade plus a Shadow. Now, there's a sprite that's hard to see!
The Shades and Shadows need a bit of a stealth fix, they are only +0. But I had about 20 or so in the province, and they managed to fight off a small surprise attack of Elephants.
Shades are crappy because they only get a 'Steal Strength' attack. But Shadows get 10AN Paralyze damage. Really nice against low MR enemies!
I cannot resist the free summons sites, and it's tough for me to turn down hiring from the recruitables sites too.
Worst one I've seen though is the water site that lets you hire little Markata archers.

I still like to use those. I just using the crappiest death mage I can find and getting free stuff is enough for me, no matter how bad it is.
