You can and you can't.
If you have Gold, you can set up to three imagaes. Two in the file and one default.
Works like this:
-Gold looks for the Primary image, if it finds it, it uses it
-If not, Gold looks for the Secondary image. If it finds it, it uses it.
-If THAT is missing, Gold looks for the default image (race/generic). Uses that.
-If THAT is missing.. methinks SE4 will give you an error and/or cycle through pictures more or less randomly.
