Re: Dom3 DB Version 3.15
I said I was not kidding and that there will be no further warnings. I don't make empty threats regarding documents I've produced myself. The previous post was not an empty threat and it was not a bluff. It was a promise.
- The Dom3 FAQ is gone.
- The UOR Mod manual is gone. The version I had ready for v3.17 with all the fixes for the will not be released.
- The forum attachment of Better Independents mod is gone.
- As soon as I get home, all of my Dominions 3 maps will be gone, likewise all copies of Dom3 DB 3.15 and earlier that I have delete access to.
- The download version of Better Independents mod will be deleted.
The bug shortlist will be updated as normal and I will be around to maintain that.
The rest of the stuff is not coming back anytime soon, if at all. You can all thank Aezeal and paparapapa for that.

Re: Dom3 DB Version 3.15
Edi, I don't blame you. I had a feeling someone would be stupid enough to throw out another annoying provocation - it seems when you have enough people there is always one in the crowd.
I don't expect you to put things back but I do second LLamabeast's post that what you have done is appreciated by the silent, non-provocative majority.

Re: Dom3 DB Version 3.15
yay edi, you message me with your warning, I do nothing to agitate you afterwards (and the first post was a joke anyway) and you still put me on the blame list.
Well Edi, please don't spend any time on dom 3 anymore and go look for your sense of humor first. If your life is in the crapper don't take it out on pplz who are just posting a lil post on the forum (ow 2 if you include that other joke with whatever it was, you seem to remember it better than me) and joking a bit.

Re: Dom3 DB Version 3.15
I wasn't a heavy user of the database, but I will miss having the FAQ around; it was a one-stop location to send new players. I'm also sad that the maps won't be centrally available any longer. For everyone who did get heavy use out of the database, I sympathize; stuff like this always hits small, relatively tightly nit fan communities hard.
Thanks for maintaining all that stuff while you did, Edi. I have no idea what happened in the other threads you mentioned, but I'm sad that it did, whatever it was.

Re: Dom3 DB Version 3.15
Edi,
For what it's worth,
1.) I'm on your side. The whinging and general air of entitlement was really obnoxious and rude.
2.) I'm glad I have a copy of the BI mod on my hard drive.
3.) If at some point you should contemplate whether to relent (to the extent of un-deleting things previously posted) I hope you bear in mind that some people really appreciated your work.
4.) Thanks. See you around.

You were the last straw. You aren't the whole reason, but a reason nonetheless.
For future reference:
If someone isn't in the mood to be humoured, don't try to humour him. In real life, you can get hurt (I've got personal experience on this).

Re: Dom3 DB Version 3.15
Ehm Endo htf should I have know he wasn't in any mood to be humoured it's on the net, I don't see him. I got his message about it/read his reaction on it only after I posted (it's usually like that). Not to mention that even in real live pplz usually ask me not to do certain stuff if the don't like what I'm doing.
I just DL-ed 3.17 upgrade and see this thread about something .15.. so I mention 3.17... it's normal, I think it's sort of funny (which is why I posted it in the first place) and not at all inappropriate, I didn't demand anything (not in here but that is how he calls it in his PM to me). I don't say he's gotta think it's funny, but acting like I'm the source of all evil is a bit much.
Ow and Max, if you think his reaction is normal I will have to disagree, because my post was not rude, and his reaction could be consider somewhat rude. (my reply is a different matter (see below))
To which I would like to add that our following conversation (PM) was much more civil (from both sides, I'm the first to admit I react very badly, agressively and rude on insults)

Re: Dom3 DB Version 3.15
Aezeal,
If it were just this thread I'd agree with you, but you've interacted with Edi before about the PDFs and that exchange went sour too. I don't think you can justifiably claim to be surprised. By the way, the proper judge of whether something is "not at all inappropriate" is not a speaker but his audience.
I agree that Edi's response was also rude, but I have limited sympathy for your current situation.

Re: Dom3 DB Version 3.15
Max I've read the previous "encounter" (thx to Edi) and IMHO there is humour all over it.

Re: Dom3 DB Version 3.15
Hmmm. Let me lighten up for a second here--it's possible that you don't realize when you're coming across as offensive. You're right in that the Internet can make it hard to tell sometimes, and makes it easy to be unintentionally rude.
The essence of courtesy to "to accomplish your goals without unintended harm to others." The corollary is that it's quite possible to be rude without meaning to, simply by not understanding how other people are likely to react to your words. I wish you better luck in your future interactions. Accidental rudeness is not something I'm immune to, either.
