The whip of command is used all the time in our home - but not by me unfortunately.

rat tail whip gives animal awe, which is a good way to stop elephants. It's also a good way to scare off a raiding thug while you cut off his retreat.

I was wondering recently if the Demon Whip was a particularly good chaff killer. It gets small area fire, of course, but whips all have length 6 - so it would get repels on basically every weapon... except pikes and lances I think? Which would work out pretty well if you are just fighting the masses. Havent tested it tho.

Is the small area fire from the whip also capped at 1 damage?

Stone Bird has length 6 and I've found it to be surprisingly good for chaff-repelling, so yeah, Demon Whip might be worth trying.

Didn't work out too well with Black Lords and burning pearl. You have to hit AND damage everyone you want to repel, and every repel after the first gives you -2 attack. He could repel perhaps three-four first, but getting surrounded will still get him killed. It might work with something that had extremely high base attack and fire magic to boost it further.

Just to clarify, I think the point thejeff was trying to bring up was: Does the small area flame get triggered by the repel-response (which we know is capped at 1 dam)? My personal guess is that it does not get triggered.

Endo: That sounds very different from how I understood repel to work. Can someone give me a refresher on Dom3 repel mechanics?

Actually, I was asking about the damage from the flame. I've never used the demon Whip.

I'd assume it isn't triggered on a repel. No other special weapon effects are. (Which is good, otherwise it would be the best damage shield ever. Three troops in a square attack you, each triggers a Fire attack that hits all of them!)
