Re: How often does an awakened god win?
My awake god was crushed quickly. A Wyrm, Dominion 5,Luck 1, w/ Lev 3 Astral and Water magic.
An enemy army was operating close to my Keep, I sent the Wyrm out with availible forces to intercept the enemy.
It never made it back.
Win? No

Re: How often does an awakened god win?
Mmh personally, I wouldn't send out an awakened Wyrm with less than Dom10... that Awe synergizes well with the Fear aura, going without it seems taking big risks to me - even if I'm still a SP player now so I don't need great minmaxing.
IMHO, I think an awaken pretender can give you some nice advantage for the early expansion rate. But it is necessary (and fair difficult) to put this advantage in very good use to overcome the better scales, blesses, and late game diversity/high paths that the imprisoned have chosen.
Moreover, not many gods can go out on turn 2/3 and start taking provinces by themselves - even some of them, very good at fighting, need some gear, dunno many of the Titans come to mind, so it seems a far better idea for them just to go dormant and try to have some good construction and self-buffs researched for the end of year 1.
Ok, I said a bunch of obvious things. ^_^

Re: How often does an awakened god win?
A wyrm without at least dom 9 is terrible =(
I've come to the conclusion that Air 2 is amazing on the wurm and cyclops pretender in combination with awe 9-10 (I've not seen a big difference between the two).
With air 2 you get (hold your breath)
Air shield (right away, zero research!), mist form, cloud trapeeze, flight, and resist lightning
Basically the air shield ensures that the cyclops will never get killed by a butt-ton of crossbowmen, and it helps the wyrm against any type of javelins or archers since the wyrm fairs far worse against regular archers than the cyclops.

Re: How often does an awakened god win?
A lot of nations need an awake god not to win, but just to have the chance to compete. This necessity may throw off the correlation between "awake god" and "victory".

Re: How often does an awakened god win?
I have won or joint won 4MP's, 2 Awake, 2 Sleeping and 0 Imprisioned.
La Ermor/awake.
Ma Man/awake.
La Caelum/sleeping.
La Agartha/sleeping.
I have had alot of games where I have done well with a awake/sleeping god and have never been knocked out in the early game.
I have played imprisioned gods alot too, usually for the bless but not done as well in the endgame. This may be more to bless nations running out of steam, being ganged or other reasons thou. Been knocked out 2-3 times before turn 30, when I have had a imprisioned god.

Re: How often does an awakened god win?
I think LA Ermor stats should be thrown right out though - not really statistically relevant, since the nation is designed to require an Awake pretender, and has such a built in predisposition towards victory.
(For THIS sort of analysis, not saying you shouldn't be in HoF. )

Yea, I agree totally.
It was before the Ermor population nerf as well. It was the sickest, most powerful nation I have played in Dom3.

Agree totally with this as well!
Been dog piled so many times playing a bless nation I have lost count and all because I had the cheek to grab 20%+ of the surface land area!
Funny thing is they would have (usually) been better dog piling the quiet guy with long term NAP's, researching, forging clams, fever fetishes and/or blood stones. As well as summoning every SC chassis available and/or developing master enslave/wish/arcane nexus etc...

Re: How often does an awakened god win?
Awake pretender gets you off to a fast start-that is it. An imprisoned pretender and blessed troops also get you off to a fast start.
On a 300 province map, I think diplomacy is just as important early on as rapid expansion. In fact, too rapid expansion in a mp game could lead to a fast exit as you are a candidate for the dog pile.
