Will you do it Slick or should I?
(I can do it next week, have plenty of time, working night then. But you do it better (actually the truth!))

I know I have been posting a lot but right now, but I am actually in a real busy period. If you could do it, that would be great. Also, you do just fine with the updates. I was using MS Word, but for some reason the hypertext links were not copying properly and I had to edit them in this UBB editor after the fact.
* looks over notes *
I haven't had time to write up some of the recent discussions for inclusion, but one topic that must go in is the great idea of using minefield markers (CTRL-M) to alter the pathing of your ships in simultaneous movement. i.e. forcing ships to go over planets with resupply facilities, etc. If you could summarize that thread and find a good spot for that one, it would be great.
To all: Last call for inputs for next revision. See Ruatha for cut-off date, but get 'em in ASAFP
[edit: Oh, yea, one more thing, I was trying to find a standard format for questions and answers, as you can see in the file. I was using the format:
x.xx.x Q: question blah blah blah
A(name_of_the_guy_who_posted_the_answer): answer blah blah blah.
But if you come up with a better format, change it.]
Thanks!
Slick.

Re: Frequently Asked Questions for Newbies
I'd be happy to test this. What is the best way to do it? Has anyone made a testbed galaxy, saved at a point where the tech tree is fully explored, which I could download? Or, is there a way to run an A.I. vs. A.I. game for several hundred turns and then take over for the A.I.?

What I would do is create a small game and play 2 different races (use only 2) and use hi tech so no research is required and test all of the cases below. i.e. turn based, simultaneous, one guy goes first, the other guy goes first, and keep track of results. Then briefly summarize, check spelling, grammar and find a suggested place to stick it in the faq with paragraph number. That's all it takes!

Re: Frequently Asked Questions for Newbies
In simultaneous games (playing ver 1.78 with TDM 3.20), warp points close before the enemy can come through them, so the attacker cannot get through and kill your worm hole closer on the same turn you give the order to close the wormhole.
I have not confirmed it explicitly, but logically in a serial game, if you close the wormhole on your turn, it will be gone by the time your enemy's turn rolls around.
So, closing a wormhole immediately keeps you safe from whatever is on the other side.
One strange bug, which I confirmed in two tests, is that if an enemy starts in the same system as the wormhole closing ship, and is given orders to attack that ship or to move to the location of the wormhole closing ship (i.e., at this end of the wormhole), the battle recording cannot be opened.
I would suggest putting this info into the newbie FAQ, section:
9.5.6 Opening & Closing Warp Points
