More arty means more weapons, not more effectiveness i think, but if you are the defender, have some ammo canisters, you can create an artillery wall

Same thing for me. If you find the AP effect is not always as good as you want, simply buy more of them (artillery) and order to fire at the same target, sooner or later it will be destroyed.
