Comparison tools...?
I'm starting to write some scripts to extract data from various modules, and with a little bit of hand-tweaking, I was able to get this:
(ES) Escort, Size: 150kT #Eng:6 #LifeSupport:1 #CrewQ:1
(FG) Frigate, Size: 200kT #Eng:6 #LifeSupport:1 #CrewQ:1
(DS) Destroyer, Size: 300kT #Eng:6 #LifeSupport:1 #CrewQ:1
(LC) LightCruiser, Size: 400kT #Eng:6 #LifeSupport:1 #CrewQ:1
(CR) Cruiser, Size: 500kT #Eng:6 #LifeSupport:2 #CrewQ:2
(BC) BattleCruiser, Size: 600kT #Eng:6 #LifeSupport:2 #CrewQ:2
(BB) Battleship, Size: 800kT #Eng:5 #LifeSupport:2 #CrewQ:2
(DN) Dreadnought, Size: 1000kT #Eng:4 #LifeSupport:3 #CrewQ:3
(BA) Baseship, Size: 1500kT #Eng:2 #LifeSupport:5 #CrewQ:5
[ ...other units deleted... ]
That was for the stock Data\VehicleSize.txt file from 1.67. No doubt this is not novel, and many mods seem to have a .xls describing their changes. But I've run this for each module and can see what the various authors have tried to do.
Maybe I'll put the results up somewhere. CSV or tab-delimited would also be easy to do, if anyone else is curious.

PS: Has anyone noticed that tweaking, or even _thinking_ about tweaking this game, sucks away all of your time...? Freakin' tweakin'. It's almost becoming hard to play, because you want to change something but don't want to take the time to actually play test it. Yet if you can't play-test it, you can't really know whether it did what you thought it would do. :-)
