Default Tech Question (Restricted Accounts)

Will the release version of the game be playable on a Windows XP Restricted Account?

Yes, an XP Limited account will be able to play (but an Admin account will need to install the game).

The demo works fine on Admin accounts, but will not work on Limited accounts. When run on Limited Account, I get the opening splash, then the title screen. I pick new game, and get the two demo choices. When I click either choice, program CTDs (well, it's in windowed mode, so the window just goes poof).

This isn't a major problem, since I can run it under an Admin account, but if this carries over to the full release...well, I guess it's still not a major problem. I just prefer to play on Restricted Accounts since it provides one more layer of protection (above and beyond AV and ASW) from all the nasties floating around. And if the program is designed to be playable on Restricted Accounts, I would like to exercise that option.

I'm not an expert, but I did notice the KE install is under the "Program Files" directory. Limited Users do not have Write priviliges for that folder. I don't know if this is the problem or not, just throwing out an observation.

Cheers.

Thanks, I'll take a look. It does write some things, but checks (or at least is supposed to) for write privliges first.

Bought the game.
Didn't accept the default load to Program Files, but created the KE folder at root level.
The game works fine on Restricted Account.

I don't know if it's the demo, my PC configuration, or the file path (Program Files vs root), but I can say that a full game install as described above does indeed accommodate Restricted User accounts running the game.
