One that I started using was the whole quadrant at peace for two years, after 10 years have passed. This allows "peaceful" domination of the qhole quadrant.

Re: Please voice your support the following Victory condition for SE4:
I like the population victory idea. How about allowing vanquished empires to still win this way??!! If the Eee empire is officially in control, but the vast bulk of the population in the galaxy is happy Terrans, then haven't the Terrans really won? A sneaky player could try to win this way by colonizing in other empires' territory on breathable planets and then gifting them away when necessary to keep the peace. If he did this with all the other empires, and then they used his former colonies to populate even more colonies, eventually his race could become the dominant one in the galaxy -- even without any empire! A jujitsu victory!

You have a selection of victory conditions so in effect they are configurable.

Re: Please voice your support the following Victory condition for SE4:
Slightly off-topic:
What other victory conditions might be fun? 1. How about adding a research tree for intergalactic travel or interdimensional travel, and you can win by finding your race's idea of Eden and transporting a certain number of people to it? One might even combine this with a time limit to add tension. Or even make it a horrendous random event affecting everyone. ("The supermassive black hole at the galaxy's center has just exploded. You have 10 years to escape the galaxy, before the new quasar's subspace distortion wave turns this whole area into quark-graviton soup.")
2. How about letting different players have different victory conditions, depending on their race's characteristics? (For example, a warrior race couldn't win by peace.)
3. As things stand now, if several players are in partnership and destroy everyone else, does the game declare them joint winners? Seems like it should. Of course you could just manually declare a victory, but it's more gratifying to have the program flash the "You Win!" screen.

The population idea is not a bad idea for victory, but the AI would be no challenge. It is pretty inept at moving its population around, and unless its an organic race, those population levels will always remain quite low.
