SJ was thinking the engines were all 1 standard movement, the I, II, III just to make the AI grab the better, but was half baked idea on way out door to work. Where I am now and about to be pestered.

And cool! About using supplies as a resource! It may be the only one we really can control! sorta

I like the QR. Keep in mind that it is horribly expensive to research. However, I'd be happy to see multiple levels of QR. The current QR would become QR5. Levels before that would be called QR1 through QR4, but would actually be enhanced supply storage combined with enhanced solar collectors. (If you can make "solar collectors" that don't need stars, then that would be even better.) So instead of one QR on one ship supplying an entire fleet endlessly, you would need QR5 before you could do that. And of course the QR5 would be horribly expensive to build as well as research. And maybe you could make it delicate too -- 1 hit destroys it. (BTW, wouldn't it be cool if some components like QR caused a self-destruct when destroyed? And then maybe you could have a specialized weapon that targets that component? And collateral damage from the explosion?)

You'd probably have to tweak this idea to get it to work with the AI. Maybe put QR5 into its own research area so the AI doesn't put one on every ship. Or is that problem solved already?

Yet Another Standing Request.

If MM would just change the QR ability to take a number in setting 1 for the supplies generated per turn we could mod as many QR types as we wanted.
