Good Free Email
Hotmail is starting to piss me off. They are starting to screw free Users over and try and get them to start paying them money. First, they started freezing accounts that temporarily went over the storage limits. Today, I got a message that they will no longer be offering POP mail retrieval service to non-paying Users. I don't use this feature, so it doesn't directly affect me. However, I am starting to wonder what is next. So, I was wondering if you guys know of a good free email service that is like hotmail used to be, and that doesn't sell your address to every junk mail service in the world.

Re: Good Free Email
I don't know about good as I have always used my ISP email, but here is a link to a review and listing of the free email services available.

Re: Good Free Email
iname.com is good.
They've got a ton of popups, but I've yet to recieve a spam.
(Of course, I sign up for everything via a spamtrap account on hotmail, so that helps too)

Re: Good Free Email
Spam Gormet is also good for taking care of spam. It is strictly a forwarding service for your existing email address, but it is a really cool idea. Sends all spam to dev nul.

Re: Good Free Email
I use Email.com, and I don't have many complaints. They do have a lot of pop-ups, tho.

Re: Good Free Email
PopUp Stopper Pro will take care of those annoying popups quite effectively. Hold the control key when you want a popup (like preveiw on this forum).

Re: Good Free Email
Where could one acquire this popup stopper?
Look what those M$ (explitive deleted) have done now to free hotmail accouts:
Quote:
We apologize, but your account is temporarily unavailable. This delay does not affect the entire site or relate specifically to your account, but the machine that holds your account information is temporarily unavailable. We do not expect this delay to Last much longer, so please continue to check our site for your account status.
We will do our best to make your account available as quickly as possible. We appreciate your support, and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

You'd think that a multi-billion (trillion?) dollar corporation could have enough servers to avoid problems such as these. Grr...

Re: Good Free Email
My prefered proxy server (popup/ad stopper) is The Proxomitron. It dynamically parses the text that comes to your system from the Web, all HTML, Java, JS, etc., and does a find and replace on it to kill popups, ad banners, and otherwise customize the Web to how YOU want to see it.

Re: Good Free Email
Ditto on the Proxomitron. I even use it to filter parts of this site that I don't use, like the printer-friendly view.
PopUp Stopper Pro can be purchased through panicware.com for, um, $19 I think. (I think I'm sounding like Kodos now. )

Re: Good Free Email
I guess I'm late on the responses. I got a job today and actually had to work (arrhhhg).
Anyway, Popup Stopper Pro can be had here and IMHO is a great tool(yes, $19.95). I get no popups, popunders, or anything else obtrusive to my surfing pleasure. Have been using it for quite some time and like it.
