Due to a minor yet unexpected hardware problem, my vacation from SE4 must start a little early (read yesterday). Sorry for the inconvenience. I will try to get one more turn in by downloading the turns onto disk from the public library, and taking them home to play, then bring the .plr files back to the library to upload. If I don't get caught, it should work. (as some of you may recall, my library is a bit anal about their computers. "no games, no chatting", and they consider this board to be chatting

no joy for me today. the library has a new policy: no downloads!!!!

Man, why did they even bother with the internet????

[OT mini-rant]
There's been a lot of hype about getting computers into libraries to give the public access to the 'net.

There has been almost no follow-up funding to train the library staff to maintain the systems after they're set up.

I swear this is true.

The local library computer was used by a someone of ill repute, and filled with content that is at best questionable to even the most sickest porn pervert, and the individual who download said images, was arrested, and the prosecuting attorney ordered the Library computer that he was using impounded as evidence. The Librarian helped the Police Officer unhook the computer and even held the door for him as he left. He was carrying the entire computer in his right arm.

Two weeks later, the pervert was released from jail do to over crowding, returned to the library within an hour of his release discovered that the police were as dumb as stumps as all they took was the monitor to the computer, and not the computer itself. So our deviant simply hooked up another monitor to the computer rebooted it and did an F-disk to the hard drive.

This was all captured on the Library's monitoring system. Needles to say, our sick (Fat & balding member of our society [insert] shudder [/insert] complete with his thick horned rimed glasses and old folks clothing) was not convicted. You see, you can not convict someone with a monitor alone.

So ya, it would be nice if the Librarians understood at least what a computer is.

Problem fixed. What was the problem, you ask? Well, I was re-arranging the house due to a recent purchase of new furniture, and the cord between the cable modem got pinned between the desk corner and the wall. Cut the cable pretty as can be, had to go buy a new one.

I will try to get a turn in on my games before I leave tomarrow morning.
