I am not sure if I am missing something, if this is a glitch or whatever. I noticed that even after repairing all my units in a PBEM campaign, I have some crews attached to formations (some of them with experience too). If I try to delete them then I risk disbanding the whole platoon. Have I done something wrong or what?

1- what version of the game are you playing ?

2- A save game that shows us an example of this would be , as we say over and over and over....., a very nice thing to have.
