Confused Re: Possible full screen windows 7 capability

When I tried to get it to play full screen the colors are all distorted. Don't know why--?

Moved to the main forum, as the original poster had it in the OOB forum.

There is plenty of help and discussion on the unsupported Vista and Windows 7 (which is just a new marketing name for Vista).

We cannot officially support an operating system that we do not own. Maybe if I get a new machine in a year or so, but XP is doing all that is required.

The psychedelic mode where windows messes with the 256 colour palette is already described in your game guide. Game Guide -> Tuning Your Machine -> Para on Full Screen mode. So it is a windows problem, and not anything to do with Vista/W7. (I sometimes rarely got it on Windows 98, reboot PC, problem sorted).

Try reading both games fora - e.g this post in WW2 http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=44044

Try setting the Vista/W7 compatibility mode for a 256 colour palette for the game - see your windows 7/vista help. Or simply reboot the PC a couple of times, and don't hog your memory with Microsoft Word etc.

The recommended solution for modern PCs is to use full-screen windowed mode, since windows (or anti-virus programmes like Avast) does not mess with the 256 colour game palette then. Plus you can see the windows task bar, and run any amount of programmes in the background without the memory usage triggering the 256 colour screen problems (lack of real memory also seems to be a problem triggering the psychedelic screen). And in windowed mode in full screen - pressing ALT+PRINT SCREEN gives you a screen dump in the normal Windows paste buffer too.

It will NOT display AT ALL full screen under win7. All I get is an error msg and win7 closes it.
