No, there is no message, the game dissapears, that's all. I'm a moderator in another forum and we had the same problem. We have to set up three games before beggining and the problem was that one player was sending his pretender without applying the CBC mod.

True. That is what is prolly happening. Everyone needs to recheck if they did the pretender on CBM 1.6.
