First Impressions ..
Hi,
my first impression is that I like the game, but there are some raw edges (using Windows 2000):
ALT-tabbing changes the colors, so that the text becomes unreadable.
Also graphics are being replaced with single characters.
Also, alt-tabbing does not always give the focus to the window, so that i need to hit alt-tab 3x times.
Keep up the good work,
--Peter

Well, if alt-tabbing is changing the colors, change from full-screen to window view. Makes everything way easier, and gets rid of that problem for you.

Re: First Impressions ..
What's the screen color depth? I rather suspect you are running in a 256-color mode. If so, color changes when you Alt-Tab are basically inevitable. This will happen with any program that uses anything other than the default color set in 16 or 256 color mode. This is a hardware limitation.
You can see the same thing by loading almost any picture of the real world and then Alt-Tabbing away.
Beyond that, I will agree the game has some rough edges. By modern standards the graphics are miserable and there are some stupidities in the user interface as well. Look past them at the strategy behind it--the game is excellent despite the cosmetic problems.
(My only connection to this game is as a customer. I am a programmer, though, and am well aware of the limits imposed by the 16 and 256 color modes.)

Re: First Impressions ..
The alt-tab is a windows thing. The game is a linux game ported to windows and mac.
If you search you see that the alt-tab problem, particularly with Win2000, comes up in many games. Even ones that were totally developed on windows.
Are you patched all the way up?
You can change the desktop icon for Dom3 so that it always loads in windowed mode, or some particular screen size you prefer.
