Re: components working yet?
Well, its not like the emissive armor isn't implemented, or something.
It's just that is is terribly useless as is. Even modded, it is either an invulnerability shield, or useless. Neither of which is good.
What happens right now, is that the Emissive ability kicks in as soon as the shot's damage breaches any shields you might have.
If the remaining damage power of the shot is less than or equal to the emissive ability of the best component on your ship, then the whole shot is ignored, and treated as a miss.
Otherwise, the shot does normal damage.
All or nothing, no middle ground.
Back in SE3, all components had one hitpoint. Then, the emissive armor negated the first n-1 points of damage, but only if the emissive armor component was hit.
If the damage was less than the emissive ability, the weapon did nothing.
If it exceeded the emissive ability, the armor was destroyed, but the damage remaining in the attack was reduced by the emissive ability amount.
If a second emissive armor component was damaged next, it would get a chance to apply its own emissive ability too.
Basically, the emissive armor works in its own way, but just not the way I'd come to expect, or the way I'd like.
The only real reasons why it should be changed are:
- nobody uses it in games or mods.
- "because I said so"
